The Last Voyage-SS Claridon by MaluNomad The Last Voyage-SS Claridon by MaluNomad
One of my favorite fictional ships...
"The SS Claridon, a proud ship, a venerable ship. But as ships go, an old ship. A very old ship. In 38 years, she has weathered everything the elements can throw at her. Typhoons, 0/0 fogs, the scorching heat of the tropics. Now she is scheduled for only five more crossings. Then a new ship, a plush, stream-lined beauty will take her place. It is then that the Claridon will pass into oblivion. She has an appointment with the scrapyard. But its an apointment she'll never keep. For this is The Last Voyage."

If you want to watch the movie, go here. The other parts are in the "Related videos section". [link]

From the opening credits of the 1960 film "The Last Voyage".

The ship used for the "Claridon" was the "Ile de France", which was being similarly decomishioned and scrapped.  Ironically, four years earlier (in 1956) the "Ile" was one of three ships honored with a special citation for rescuing the passengers and crew of the sinking luxury liner "Andrea Doria" off Nantucket Island
